The journey to here…

I spent years believing deep in my soul that I was destined to spend my life slugging it out in hospitality. Absolutely nothing wrong with hospitality mind you- it was my first love for many years, but the burnout was/is real.
So off to University I went (again) to study Visual Art and Design. I had no idea where I was going to end up, I just knew I needed to stretch my creative brain and create a new path for myself.
I will always remember that choosing to go back to uni felt like a life or death decision. There was no option, I was going 👉that way no matter what and no matter how much I wanted to resist or fight that journey.

Upon completing my degree with several Deans awards for high achievement, 2 internships, 2 scholarships to study abroad, a published research paper and a scholarship to complete my honours (woah, who was that guy?! 🤯), I was all ready to become an academic! I could see the phd, I could see the artist residencies, I could see this future unfolding in front of me….and then BAM! I fell pregnant. Well, way to change direction in a flash!

So, while there was absolutely resistance to this change of plan 😂, I felt that exact same life or death decisive moment upon me. So I started Girl Likes Chairs officially instead.

I took that jump and committed in my heart to this humbling little soul business being my true purpose and the one that will eventually support my daughter and I no matter what, that will teach my daughter that women in business are strong and powerful and successful and that abundance will always flow where you allow it.

It’s been a wild ride so far, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
